Default Will these fish live peacfully together?

Just started cycling my tank, and I think I have finally put the finishing touches on what it will hold. I am thinking of doing 4-6 cory cats (bottom level) 8-12 neon tetras (mid level) and 4-6 female Bettas (top level). It is a 30 gal tank. everyone think this will be ok together? sorry, I am a first timer. I think it will be a nice mix of color, and should be failry calm according to the research I have done.

That's a lot of fish. Why do you want to put so many in, especially the bettas?

The females will still fight, unless the tank is heavily planted. Then its suggested to have an odd number.I wouldnt add all the neons with the females.females are not like the males in the sense they are all over the place. The males stay pretty much in one area,as its how they are in the wild. The females however swim about looking for the males, and will not stay in one area for much longer than to breed. If you want a betta,I would get an exceptionally beautiful male.

Also, what type of filtration will be on the tank?Females can stand more flow than the males but still not overpowering.

If you want to stick to those fish,I would do five females, try to get siblings they will fight less. Then eight neons and the cories.Stay up on the water changes though, and be prepared for the females to not get along.Have a seperate container handy for eack in case you have to pull them. And dont assume six months into the build that alls well, because they can turn on each other.Make sure to plant very heavily for them to block views of each other too.

I have an AC50 for filtration. Would you suggest adding guppies for the top layer instead of Betta's? If so I would like to have 1 slightly larger centerpiece fish that would live well with all the others, do you have any suggestions for this? I know that If I tried to use a betta for this purpose it would most likely fight the guppies. I would cut the numbers back a little for each of the fish to allow for 1 bigger fish.

I would do 5-6 corys, 10 Neons and then 1 male dwarf (or Honey) gourami with 2-3 females. Honey gouramis are slighty smaller than the dwarf gouramis and they are supposed to be the least aggressive of the gouramis. (I'm putting 1 male Honey and 2-3 females in my 36g, with 10 harlequin rasboras and 6 panda cories.) Just suggesting this because I know that female bettas fight with each other. I put 2 together once, no knowing this, and had to separate them fast!!

Hope that helps.
