Default ways to clear gravel/sand cloud

i resently set up another tank, but i cleaned the sand thats going in the bottom really lazily, and now regret it is this reaaallllyy bad to have in the water, or should i actually get rid of it. if i need to get rid of it, then what is the easiest way, do i really have to empty the tank and re-wash the sand? thanks.

Just remove water from tank, then slowly add back in using a plate for the water to hit first.

And please don't need multiple post on same subject.
