Default Today's the big day!

I'm doing a complete revamp of my aquarium, and I'm changing out the entire substrate, as well as finally adding the driftwood that I've been soaking for a week now. I've got a bit of an existing algae problem, but hopefully this will get rid of it.

I know that the gravel/substrate change will be a huge factor in my nitrifying bacteria count, so is there any way that I can prevent this from damaging my existing habitat, since my tank is already fully established? Also, I know there are a bunch of threads about changing substrate with the fish still in the tank, but I'd like a fresh voice of opinions from those of you who already have experience doing so.

Starting in about 2 or 3 hours, wish me luck!

I wouldn't recommend changing out the entire substrate like that. You can cause a whole host of water quality issues by doing so, a complete crash of the tank being very likely.
