Ok so I bought a paradise fish to go with my opaline gourami, I was told they would get along ok.. Well they don't, so after a day together, the paradise fish now has a split fin due to nipping... so I put him in the large community tank.. nope not there either, my calm and peaceful gold gourami started chasing and nipping at it. sooo its now in the breeding net in the large tank until I figure out what to do with it. I may end up returning it. Do you think it would get along with my female betta??? Any suggestions???

Probably not, Paradise fish is in the same family as gourami and bettas and I think it would end up the other way around and the paradise will harrass the betta.

I agree with Susan.they will most likely bicker.Just because its a female doesnt make her less submissive than a male, especially if shes been by herself for a bit.If the paradise fish gets pushy she may push back.

Do you have more tanks than what's in your sig? Which tank is the Opeline or Gold in? Gouramis are territorial for sure.

I have 3 tanks total... the 29 community, the 10g has my betta (but can become a hospital tank in a pinch) and a 20g hex (has the opaline) Im thinking I will either have to take the paradise fish back (got him yesterday) or purchase a tank separator and split either the 10g or the hex.

LOL If it was only so easy. We do plan on getting a very large tank when the basement is finished but for NOW.. I think I will try and find a tank separator and split either the hex or the 10g. Its a cheep and easy fix, and I will be able to keep the Paradise fish
