I have my 100 gal tank set up in the basement so there is no natural light down there. I have a timer set up on the tank light but am unsure of how many hours to run the light to keep my fish happy. My fish are goldfish. Any help welcome.

What time do you generally wake up? Go to sleep? Have it turn on when you wake up and turn off when you go to sleep. That way if you are ever in the fish tank area, you can see them.
