Default tank filter turned of over night?

hey all,

Ive only got a small tank with a few fish,
ive got a hanging filter on the tank and was just wondering if i could have that turned off during the night or is it best to just keep it running?
whats the best thing to do? put it on a timer or just keep it going?

Thanks

If noise is a problem, bring the water level up (or buy a different filter if it's mechanical noise) and add an air stone to compensate for the potential loss of oxygenation. If you want to only run it during the day, not advised, buy a filter with twice the capacity as your current one but make sure the current isn't too strong for the tank's inhabitants.
