All,
Yet again I am on the hunt for some advise. I have had a 180G tank now for 5 weeks [gift from my next door neighbour] and it currently contains 3 x 8" Oscars, 1 x 12" Plec, 4 x 6" Silver Dollars and a large population of breeding Malawi Cichlids, havent a clue what species. Filtration is by 2 x Rena XP3 canisters. Sand Substrate, 4 air hoses, 2 heaters. Silk plants. My question today relates to lighting, at present there are two lighting power boxes one of which has a white tube attached and one has a blue tube. I am wanting to replace both as they are rather old and was wanting some advise as to what to replace them with i.e tube lenght, colour, wattage and whether or not I need to power units or ust purchase new tubes. The lighting aspect of the tank is the one thing which totally confuses me yet If i sort my lighting situation out with the correct option the tank will look amazing. Look forward to any advise you may have. Cheers Ross |

What are the measurements for your tank? No ambition to have plants, right?

How long are the tubes that are in now and do you have a canopy or light strips sitting on glass??

72" fixtures can be expensive and only made by a few companies. You could just get 2-36" 2-tube fixtures and I think you'd be happy. You may even find a 3 or 4 tube that will work just as well. Since you don't plan on plants, you won't need all that much.
