Default Spring Water

No...not bottled water.

I have access to a public spring. Its free and runs naturally....never stops. Its source is also the water supply for a local community (where my brother lives) and, as a result, is constantly being tested. This is the water I use for my aquarium (as well as for drinking) rather than tap water. I do add the water conditioner to it, as recommended. Is there anything else I should do? The fish seem fine and healthy in it.

if they seem happy I wouldn't worry about it, but I think spring water is softer(not sure), so be sure that none of your fish need harder water

Test it for: Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, hardness, chlorine (even though it's a spring), copper and anything else the test kit comes with. If it all comes out at the numbers that it should, then you're good to go.

If they've been happy so far, you're probably fine. But, sometimes illness/death can occur months after adding the fish, so I'd still test for all of those things.

Thank you both! Right now I only have the test strips, which show that the PH is high....everything else is good. I know I need a chemical test kit and will get that after pay day. Can you recommend one? I have seen test kits that test for only ONE thing...which means you have to buy a half dozen kits. Is there one that covers all that wont break the bank?
