Default Help me find Snails??

Hey all, so I would like to add a snail or two ... maybe three, lol. I'm just not that familiar with whats all out there. The only snails I know of are the two or three types they sell at petsmart and I'm not really that into them. So any suggestions, pictures would be great! Oh and this is a fresh water tank.

Snails create ALOT of waste and breed like crazy... so if your prepared for that than... go for it!

There is all sorts of snails... check out Main Page - The Free Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Encyclopedia Anyone Can Edit - The Aquarium Wiki for more info on them

Thanks for the link. I did some reading and found that now all snails are hermaphroditic. So breeding is not always an issue. I just need to pick the right snails.

ok, so I've been reading, I'm looking for snails that are not hermaphroditic. Aslo I need snails that will not touch my plants, atleast the live ones. The tank will be heavily planted. I'm only looking for a few... like 3 or so.

Check out assassin snails, they are sweet. They sometimes breed, but slowly. And hey, I wish mine would because they fetch a decent price where I live (5 bucks each!). They are also carnivores... but best of all is that they eat those annoying little black snails that can infest your tank. As they did mine! Be careful when buying plants.

I was actually thinking about those. Will they eat each other? I would like to have more than one.

There is also several types of nerites. won't breed in fresh water so you won't get over run.
