Default Slate question

I have some nice pieces of slate that were used outside in flower beds..Is it recommended using it in my tank..I figured if I boiled it for a few minutes it'd kill any bacteria that may be harmful to my fish..Any thoughts?

Slate is aquarium safe. However, some slate can contain iron deposits. Can you see any type of rust lines in it? Otherwise, yes....scrub them under hot water first to remove any debris and then boil for a spell. Let cool completely before adding to the tank of course.
