Default Silly betta trying to hide?

I got my kid a Sponge Bob pineapple for her Betta tank and the silly thing keeps sticking its head in one window and sleeping there. The first time I saw this I was afraid he was stuck and I would have to save him. But he keeps doing it.
Is this normal behavior for a Betta?

Default Re: Silly betta trying to hide?

Hahahah! Cute! Nope, you just have a Betta with a funny personality! Bettas have all got very different personalities, and you got one who is silly! Possibly a bit shy too. Maybe he's got the mindset of a cat or toddler where "if I can't see you, you can't see me!" works for him... he thinks he's hidden when you can still see his but.

Unless you can see that he is really stuck and can't get out, then I wouldn't worry. They make things like little Betta logs that they can go into and sleep in, and plastic leaves that suction cup to the glass that are Betta hammocks. They like to kinda' hang out and rest in odd places.

As long as he's getting to the top to breathe and is eating and pooping normally, and not showing any signs of distress (loss of colour, trouble swimming, gasping at surface, not eating, white stingy poop), then he's juuuuust fine. (Although, his new hiding place wouldn't cause those symptoms, it would be something else, lol.)
