Default Sand and Filter Question

Well i have a Penguin 200b and im upgrading to a fluval 305. i have a 30G and im upgrading to that filter because i plan to get a new tank in the near future. well my question is, with my sand it get sucked in the power filter and now it make a horrible noise. Ive tried cleaning it but it still make a horrible noise. will i have a problem with this with the fluval. I know it has removable parts, will it be fixable if it dose happen?

also how can i prevent it from entering into the filter ive tried multiple thing but it still didn't work.

Anytime you are going to be disturbing the sand turn the filter off. Dont put the intake too close to the substrate. Some people wrap the intake with filter floss of some kind also.
