Default Salt and Carbon help, Please!

Hi guys well i have only about 7 fish in my tank now and its been ick free for sevral weeks now and it just came back and i do not want my africans do die. so my question is this will my canister filter take out the salt if i keave it running? I dont want to spend any more money on medicine and i just want to use salt. I have put in 1 tbs for 5 gallons, i this fine? And how long do i keep it going for?

Should be fine with the filter. Add some airstones and raise your temp to 86. Leave it up for 10 days.

Salt doesn't evaporate and I don't think the filter takes it out either..... you would need water changes to take it out when you're ready to.

As for the dosage, follow what's on the box... I can't remember what it says exactly.... 1tsp or 1tbsp per 10g?

Higher heat and increased aeration (just like Susan said) will help too.

well, just got back from a trip and I checked the tank and there are no causalities.

But the ick seems to be disappearing!

congrats. just make sure you leave the temp up and the salt for at least a week after the last spot is gone.
