Default Red Tail Shark

My red tail shark has suddenly started to hide in his tunnel. Previously he was very active and even a bit of a bully. His tank mates are: 2 Corydoras, 6 danios, 5 serpae tetras, 1 weather loach, 1 pleco all in a 36 gallon bow front.
Should I be worried about him? All of the other fish are doin fine.
Thanks for any help/suggestions,
Ken

Nope, when I first got one, he was very active swimming around the tank all day. Now he hides most of the day, but will come out if he see's food being poured into the tank. I believe they might be nocturnal, or more active at night.

I have had Red-Tailed many times over the years. My experience with them is they don't like Nitrates, low ph and softwater. If they are unhappy, their colors will fade and they won't be as active. They are much happier in the conditions you would keep livebearers (7.5+ ph) in than those for tetras (6.5- ph). Try a water change (with a little Rift Valley Salt added) and see if his behavior changes.

I hope you have a tight lid on that puppy. I would have to fish mine out of my filter every morning cause he would jump up the waterfall into the filter -_-. I had him when i was like 10 so the first time i noticed him gone i was devestated lol

Do you have kids? Maybe they 'scared' the fish and now it's nervous?

Sounds to me as if he has staked out "his" spot. All of mine have displayed this behavior.

My RTS lives in soft water (Ph6). Beautifully coloured, feeds well. Tank is in a very low traffic area. Doesnt often come out while the tank lights are on unless food is involved, as soon as the lights go off out it comes *L* Always been this way. They find thier spot and tend to stay around there.

Sounds fairly normal to me
