I had a couple come in with plants, most probably eggs. Before you know it i see them everywhere. I dont mind putting my hand in every couple of day and squash them, but dont think it is ideal.
So how to control them? i have tried lettuce and zucchini but they weren't interested. I am not going to get clown loaches. In a week or so i will get some zebra loaches and have been told they will eat them. If they don't whats the best way? I don't want to rid of them completely, a healthy level would be ok. |

I always just pick them out manually (any that make it past my rinsing and examination before planing), or I use Assassin snails, that eat them. But, you said you want a few so.... I'm thinking the Loaches will get rid of all of them though...

Im happy if the loaches eat them, if not im happy for them to be there, just not an out of control level.. If the loaches are interested, i will go to my LFS and get some of theirs for feeding. The LFS seem to have way to many in some tanks. They serve a purpose i guess but not really that efficient in low number, thats why im not fussed if i have them.

Just be sure you have the room for the loaches (some get huge) and that you get enough of them (IF they need to be in groups.) Also, make sure you have another method of feeding them if you aren't able to get snails anymore - I don't know if they eat flake food... I'm assuming they do, but just make sure before you buy.

Thats why i dont what clown loach. They look pretty when young, but grow massive and need to be schooled!! It seems everywhere i look people suggest clown loach or yoyo loach. I will most probably get 3 zebra loaches. They grow to about 4in i think. Apparently 3 is ok, and they might eat small snail. Thanks for your input :-)
