Have a question for Python users: I would love to get one when I set up my tank, but I want to know if there is some way to divert the water being removed from the tank to a bucket instead of letting it go down the drain. I like the idea of using the waste water for our plants. I live in Las Vegas and we are in the middle of a major drought. The thought of wasting all the water really bugs me.

i usually unscrew it from the sink once the siphon starts and put it in the shower cause its lower to the ground but you can do this same thing and just empty it into buckets, it shouldnt be too hard.

If you have a utility sink (deep sink), you could just place a bucket under the python drain to catch it. Otherwise you could just use a regular gravel vacuum to drain the water into buckets and just use the python to fill the tank with new water. I used to drain the water into a flower kettle to pour onto the roses outside.
