I'm looking for a pre-filter that can keep endler fry out of my filstar xp4 filter. Any suggestions? Would the filter-max III work well on this filter?:
Aquarium Pre Filter; Filter Max intake filters for HOB, canister filters, etc. It's a possibility that I'll use this filter for red cherry shrimp in the future too and I'd assume baby shrimp are smaller than guppy fry. I don't want to make the motor burn out or something by using the wrong pre-filter. |

Buy some bulk porous filter foam material (such as this: Aquarium Pharmaceutical Filter Foam | Sponges & Foam | Filter Media & Accessories | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com), either online or from your LFS or even a PetsMart or PetCo. Cut off a good chunk, slice a big hole in the middle, and fit over your filter inlet. Yellow dish sponges at the grocery store work equally well, but I prefer the black foam material.
