I have a 20g tank that has 4 small Honey Gourami, 3 Oto cats and 2 ADF's. (There are also 4 small Assassin snails hanging around, and one left over half an inch Chili Rasbora.)
We had 1 Cardinal Tetra left over from a school that had died out, and my husband has been bugging me to get a few more, since when looking in the tank, you can only ever see 1 or 2 gourami - lots of plants and hiding places, and the frogs and Otos are nocturnal, so you never see them much. I caved, and went to get 5 Cards today - they guy netted 6, so have me the one extra for free. Once in the tank, the old Card was sooo excited! He swam right up to them like, "FRIENDS!!!!" It's been a few hours however, and now the poor guy has seemingly been outcast from the group. The 6 new fish all hang in a tight group, not moving much - still getting used to things - while the original one sits way below them, looking longingly at the group.... poor guy. They should eventually school together once they have time to settle right? Or, is it like a "we were a school first and you are new, so go away" type thing?

I personally don't think Cards are the best schoolers or Neons for that matter. I have 25-30 in one of my tanks and most of the time they are all over. Doesn't really matter to me one way or the other as long as they are healthy.

Oh, alrighty then.
I got more because I've read they need numbers to be truly happy, and he did seem kinda' out of sorts. (And Mike loves their colours.) The ones I got came from a tank of spectacularly coloured Cards! I was very impressed! (I told the guy I wanted 5 Cards, then turned around and saw these bright blue fish from across the room and was thinking, "Woah! What are those?!" I was too far to see what they were. To my delight, it was the Card tank!)
