Default plec

I have 3 plecs, 2 brown and a albino, i have had them for roughly a year, i noticed yesterday, that the brown plecs change colour, do they try to merge into the background? I thought it was a stress related symptom! It becomes pale in blotches before my eyes, why is this?

Default Re: plec

Plecos can change colours when they are blending into their backgrounds, or during different moods. They will also often go paler at night when the lights are off, then regain colour when the lights are turned back on during the day.

Just make sure the colour changing isn't accompanied by any symptoms of illness. If they are, then it may be sick. (Not eating, clamped fins, swimming funny, etc...)
