I did build both the stand and canopy on a Saturday. Its a 75 gal. :-)
Bought the tank and wet/dry filtration for $40 and about $150 in wood.
Installed two T8 daytime fluorescent and one T8 Actinic for a brighter look.

Wow! You are talented! (At both woodworking and photography!) Beautiful stand and canopy and beautiful fish! (This may sound silly, but what kind of fish are they? The first is a pleco, but are the rest cichlids? I'm not great with I.D.ing fish, but I'm learning, lol.) The fish right after the pleco looks like it's smiling for you!

They are all cichlids. The one you are referring to Im not sure what he is but he looks like a red devil to me. There is a electric blue, convict, and I believe a yellow lab.

Yes, very nice. I like the 'solid, made to do the job' look of it. If that makes any sense.

Looks like the hood is open in the back for ventilation. What is the purpose of the second tier on the hood?

Second tier was at first just to add character to the build but also created a hidden shelf to hide and keep my air pump off the floor and above the water line.
Thank you for the compliment.

Thanks fisherman,
I own a Canon 20D. I used a 28-105 lens with a shallow extension tube to get a little closer. I guess it takes a photog to know a photog!
