Default Not about anyone you may or may not know lol.

Is it just me or are there alot of people on these types of Forums that just really seem like they dont wanna help... Reason i say this is Ive read alot on keeping fish... that doesnt mean i know S*it about it lol. So when i ask a question ive attempted to read and i either think its wrong or would just like a 2nd opinion. so why if i ask something do some folks just get nasty n say why dont you read up before you ask the questions... whats the forums for then? i donno and again this isnt about anyone here or anyone ive spoken to on other forums just something ive noticed as i scroll down the endless list of questions.. sorry for the rant. Maybe im missing something i donno. just my personal opinion... Also i wouldnt of put this in general freshwater topics but there isnt a rant area LOL. (side note) this is one of the best forums i read. ALOT less rudeness here and way more inviting thanks for that!

There is people everywhere that just come onto forums to read and not really to help. They think that everyone should research everything, But on many occassions its more helpful to get first hand experience help, instead of general information. And sometimes they are just rude people.

Glad you enjoy our forum.

yea sure you should always research a question but most af the time the best way to do reasearch and find the answer is to ask someone that has dealt with that problem on a first hand basis, ask away and never be afraid to ask why! asking why might teach you even more than just what fixing the problem would and gives you a better understanding of whats going on so that if, god forbid, it happens again, your ready!

I've had nothing but good experiences here, and I agree that you should ask any questions you need. It's better to ask here, where people actually know what they're doing, than to research it out and find major conflicting opinions or wrong information.

EXACTLY!!! lol, it absolutly drives me nuts when i try to find out about a problem and i get 3 different answers, another sad thing is that most people go to their local LFS with questions but i've found that most of what they say is either BS/they just want to sell you more crap or they just flat out dont know anything about keeping and caring for fish etc.. also for any of you interested, another website that has helped me out with alot of questions and concerns was Firsttankguide.net, the guy that started it is named kieth and anything that you dont understand or still have questions about you can send him an e-mail, it might take him a day or 2 to get back to you but that guy is definetly a trust worthy source of information.

One thing people dont realize,is most of what is written,is because someone asked a question, lol.Like 1proudwitch stated, there is no such thing as a silly question excetp those not asked.

I myself have been asking lots of questions here lately, because theres just not that many resources on the fish I keep.

I'm a member of two other forums, one of which (my local city forum) is great. The third, however, has several members who can become quite presumptuous and will basically either not entertain your question or insult your level of inexperience. In my experience on that forum, I have found that simply by reading the high-level discussions yields a lot of info, and there are a TON of stickys, an entire FYI section, and resources such as fish profiles, plant profiles, etc. all on the same forum. So I can completely understand when the more experienced members of the forum get put off when asked the same question 10 times a week while the answer is sitting in the same forum, just in a different section.

This forum is great because all of us "old hands" are always willing to answer questions and some like Bev and James have very good info and experience with some very specific critters.

Long story short, I love this forum

Ya know, ya could have started off with the Long story short portion of your post, as it would have saved me from reading that book you started off with in the beginning of your post!

Oh, and

sometime people on line can get blunt (or rude or whatever) whereas face to face they are not.

I know as I used to be that way.

perhaps the industry/boards/knowledge has just caught up to my original ideas.
