I have to share this story with someone...I'm setting up a 55 gallon planted tank on the cheap. I found a apparently good condition Marineland C220 pump for $40. Of course for that price it didn't quite work - made a lot of noise - didn't seem to be pumping. After some internet investigation I determined that it needed a new impeller and was possibly missing a gasket - so for few bucks I ordered replacement parts from Marineland (after seeing the price of a new pump). They arrived today and I duly replaced said parts on the pump and put it all together. The pump was purring - silent and getting a vacuum but still not circulating in the tank. So I started playing with the various parts in case they were not seated properly. I got to the hose fixture and I could see it had a lever that fixed the hoses in place - on closer inspection I noticed what might be a second lever that might have broken off. So I toggled it. Immediately water sprayed out of the hoses, down my jeans into my shoes. In the ensuing chaos I did not notice how this new lever opened the hose valves, but fitted back on the pump it solved all my water flow issues - so I got a good cheap pump but I also needed a change of clothes http://www.aquariumforum.com/images/smilies/rofl.gif
