Okay so I took it upon myself to breed some bristlenose plecos. I headed to my LFS to see if they would buy them and what did they tell me? I need to be an authorized fish dealer....? Now this shop is notorious for pulling facts out of their asses so I wanted to get a second opinion from the forums before I go off trying to sell these fish to some other shops. I googled authorized fish dealer and can not come across any type of certification except for the sale of dead fish for consumption by humans. If there is such thing as authorized fish dealers could some one explain how easy/hard the process is and whether or not there are fees involved? thanks!

First what kind of fish place were you trying to deal with. Big box stores will only go through wholesalers like Seagrist farms. Mom and Pop stores and such will usually deal with local breeders.

Most places dont require a fish dealer license but your area might require one. You can also sell them on ebay without a license if your place needs one. Just check with your local court house. I believe places that are bordering an ocean is more likely to have a dealing license
