Default Moving my 3 gallon today.

So after my last class today I will be moving my 3 gallon from Nashua, NH to the Springfield, MA area.

I am going to be taking out about 60% of the aquarium water, duck taping any holes in the top that the fish can get out of possibly, and putting it in the box I bought it in (with some towels to prevent a lot of movement.

The car will be brought up to 74-80 degrees before I move the fish from my room to the car.

Are there any other suggestions before I do this to make this less stressful on the fish and/or myself.

I love my fish and I am really worried about moving them and causing too much stress on them.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I will be moving them around 4pm - 5pm EST

Should be okay. I would try to keep it as level as possible. Up to you, but you may consider a battery-powered aerator. They sell them in Dick's sporting goods in the fishing section..used to keep bait alive.

Thanks for the info on the battery powered aerator, I may look to pick one up if I have time, which sadly I probably do not.

Well I successfully made the trip with no loss of fish or snail. They are quite happy in their new spot!

Default Re: Moving my 3 gallon today.

If I had a bigger tank I would! Also, my parents are taking care of them until December 20ish (I may be back before that date) so not having live plants in there will make for easier overall care. When I brought my tank home my mom was like that is an awesome little tank it should be easier to take care of than the one we had when you were little.

I had to inform her smaller tanks require more work and the reasons why, lol.

I asked for a nice 20gal for xmas so hopefully I will get that and pretend that it is a 10 gallon at school (hehehe). That one I want to get live plants for.
