Gourami's may terrorize the guppies or the tetras, the swords may also as well. My male sword is the smallest fish in my tank and even my CAEs don't bother him. Though I've never personally kept gouramies(is?), but I've heard they can be mean.

Value approximately .02 USD

In general I agree, although in my case, my dawrf Gourammi does not really bother other fish. He has he spot under some floating plastic plants and stays there unless it's feeding time or somebody trys to take that spot.

I kinda feel sorry for the guppies if the Swordtails get after them, as I have seen Swords be aggressive. They might fair pretty well if there are floating plants for them to hide.

Keep us posted.

The threadfin rainbow is a schooling fish and needs more of its kind and can also be a fin nipper. You dont have room to add more of them so if it was me I would take him back.

I've never seen Dwarf Gouramis be mean to anything but other Dwarf Gouramis.

If you take the Rainbow back, and I hope you do, do yourself a big favor and don't get anything in it's place. There is not a necessity to stock a tank level to its max. Problems always come with it. At this point in my feeling in the hobby of keeping fish, I'm happy with healthy fish than I am "more" fish. Way understocked in all my tanks....but fish death and disease is something I don't have to deal with very often. Kind of nice. Not so, when I first started out.

Agreed. Take the rainbow back if possible, and keep an eye on the Gourami and swords. If you notice bullying, you will have to put them in a different tank or possibly take them back.

Also you might want to get another female sword, otherwise the male will be chasing the female around most of the time and may stress her out eventually causing death (personal experience) but you definitely are approaching or have gone over the max for your tank so that may also not be a good idea. My suggestion would be to return some tetra and get a female sword or return the swords. Otherwise you will most likely lose some fish due to overcrowding and/or stess, and no one wants that.

Totally didn't think of that! Yeah, isn't it like 2-3 females to 1 male? That way the females don't get stressed?

Maybe. My male sword is the smallest fish in the tank and he chases everything else around, its his tank. But results may vary.

For the most part, community fish get along with other community fish. Some may act out of character when you crowd them in a small tank though.
