I'm thinking if you're saying your tank is over crowded, then that's the problem.

Do you have a test kit? You need to test the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Ammonia and NitrIte should be at 0ppm and NitrAte should be below 40ppm.

If you do not have a bigger tank to move everyone to, then you will have to do 50% water changes daily (depending on how bad the levels are.)

How is the filtration? Is the filter big enough for the tank?

Are you noticing any signs of disease on the ill fish? Clamped fins, swimming/bouyancy problems, white specks, fuzzy white spots?

I don't think it's over cowded. The black on the died when I first got him he god fuzzy white spots it just stuck to him. And that wasn't a problem but all the sudden 6months later he died. And yeah I cleaned it and took water samples up and they said it was good. And yes the tank came with the right fliter size. But I noticed this other fish her back was like slanted and not straight. But she is doing ok. And now I have 5babies in a little box think that you buy to go into the tank. Now I have 2 male and a female molly.
The weird thin is the Alfa male was Luke peaking at the other male thing and I think that kinda made him die
What is the normal life spans of a Molly?

1. Define overcrowded. Ten fish in a ten gallon is overcrowded, if you ask me, but that's just being blunt. What size tank do you have, and how many fish are still alive in there?

2. "They" might not know what they are talking about. If you get a chance, either buy some test strips for yourself, or have "they" give you the exact water parameters, in degrees or parts per million, and let us know what they are.

3. Luke peaking? Do you mean the alpha male was chasing and nipping the other male? If so yes, harassment causes stress which might have done in that fish.

4. I would ballpark the lifespan of a molly at around ten years, but I'm far from an expert on the subject.

1. Yes, but how big is your tank? Seven fish in a 3 gallon bowl is WAY too many, while seven in a ten gallon would be just right.

2. Petsmart Like? You lost me. Did they use test strips or liquid drip/titration tests?

3. Lost me again. If you're referring to the one male killing off the other, stress deaths are long, slow, and torturous deaths that you might not even see coming.

4. No, not until you determine what's going on with your tank and why your existing fish keep dying. Besides, you've got 5 new ones on the way already

I have a 10 gallon. Ad petsmart showed me the test strips and explain to me about it, and said that it's good, shouldn't have no problem. He was ill for about 6days. And But the female was a mate to the one that might of killed the black male. And they had kids. But she died unexpectedly. But is it for sure that all the baby's will make it?

I'm pretty sure the alpha male killed the other male (males get very territorial). I'm not sure the fry will be safe until we know what killed your other two fish. You said one was "bent", it could have been a wound inflicted from you or the pet store clerk accidentally pinching the fish when transferring from the store tanks to your tank. And fuzzy lesions is a sign of fungus. As for the injury - I wouldn't worry very much about that. The fungus might be a bigger issue. I like using a topical anti-fungal called API Pimafix. It's herbal, therefore not as potent (or as deadly to the fry) as some straight up medications. Buy a little bottle and dose half their suggested amount in your tank for a week. Follow the directions on the bottle, just dose 1/2 the amount they say to use. Also pull the carbon out of your filter - it will strain the meds out. When you're done with the treatment, put the carbon back in and change 50% of the water.

bingo (I hope )

IME mollys in Fw do get a white fungus which is "cured" with salt.

Therefore I feel mollys do much better with some salt in the water and even in a full marine environment.

+1

Better idea than API Pimafix

I thought so too until I saw some at a LFS in the saltwater tanks to help maintain bioload while the tanks were empty. (back in '79 )

For a newbie to the marine world I recommend basically my planted methods but using algae (macros) instead of plants. And for the first fish a molly. I figure if the new marine hobbist can acclimate a fw molly to marine then acclimating a much more expensive marine fish would be extremely easy.
