Ive got a 20L set up and thriving, but eventually I want to move everything over to a 55 thats been sitting for months now.
I caught 2 gus about to throw this tank away at the landfill, took it home because I saw potential in it. It doesnt leak, and even came with a matching stand. Problem is, when I took it from them, Im almost certain they said they tried to clean it with Comet. and when it failed to become clean to their standards, they trashed it. Im very new to all of this, but Ive had great luck so far and I dont want to ruin it. The tank has been sitting vacant since late August, so water, no nothing. Is there any way to make it safe for fish now? If so, how do I do it? Thank you to anyone who has some advice ![]() |

Take some pure white vinegar and soak the inside of the tank with it. Let set for about 30 minutes then drain and repeat a few times. Rinse real well. Should work then.
