Wink Help the beginner out!!

Hi my name is gage, and I'm new to aquarium forum and the aquarium hobby. Currently I am in the process of cycling my new 25 gallon aquarium and my tetra 30 whisper pump has decided to start flowing out of the of the intake cavity instead of being filtered and waterfalling back into the pump. I would like to know how how this happened and how to fix it. I am open to any and evry response so don't hold back if I hav done something incredibly stupid. Thank Yall

I can't even picture what you're talking about. Is there an obstruction to the water inside the filter? How are you cycling the tank?

I would say your pump housing had come loose turn off the filter and make sure everything is seated correctly and tight. Also make sure there is no blockage (maybe a fish or something else) causing the water to not flow correctly.

Also check to make sure there are no cracks in the intake, after that I would try and return or call the helpline for Tetra.

I'd also try 1) removing the filter media and just letting the water flow through freely and 2) making sure the pump is primed with water just take a cup and dump it into the filter. Most filter when the media is to clogged for water to flow properly safty built in where the water can flow out without overflowing the filter.
