Default help with 55 freshwater filter and heater?

what kind of heater and filter are well for my 55g?

But there are some things i am kinda picky about the filter and heater

Filter:
-must be safe for jumping fish like silver hatchetfish and butterfly fish (like i know top fin filters won't work)
-and must be quiet like the top fin filters.
(had topfin filter)
-can only buy from petsmart or petco (not order)

heater-basicly can go underwater (if there's any) or safe for flying fish. and can be bought from petco or petsmart without ordering.

And i plan to get air pumps too, is there any that will be safe for jumping fish or is this one good enough?

Petsmart carries several heaters than can be emersed all the way. You might look into ether aquaclear filters or better yet a canister filter.

i would do canister filters, eheim or fluval both are really good, all you have going into yoru tank is the inlet and outlet hoses, make sure your heater is reated for 2-3 times the size of your aquarium, most of them you can emerse all the way under water

I third the canisters.Petsmart I know carries Rena,Fluval,Marineland and I think some Eheims. These are all great brands. Then possibly look into an inline heater. This will go on the hose for the filter and not in the tank,so it clears out room in there.

If you do go with a heater in the tank,I think nowadays all of them are submersible, but read the box to be sure.I am not good on name brands so cant really help there.I can tell you though to make sure its not a preset, and you can adjust the temp yourself. Also get a thermometer to help tell you the tank temp.

Good morning Sholi...

There are number of good aquarium heaters at the LFS. I've used the PetCo brand for several years with good results. A couple of 100 watt heaters placed at opposite ends of the tank is all I use in my 55 Gs.

I prefer AquaClear power filters. They're easy to clean and last forever.
