Default Fluval 305 Broke? Please Help!

Hello,

I went to clean my tank today and as I did, the intake accidently came out of the water and suckjed in a load of air, and started making a odd sound (think it was the impeller spinning). Once i cleaned it out and went to turn the filter back on, it wouldnt suck in water so I did what I normally do and lift up the filter and turn it on its side or upside down (p.s the filter is always sat next to the tank) all the air then come out and it was pumping again, untill I returned it to is position and it didnt work, so I read somewhere I need to put the filter below the tank in order for it to work, but once I had done that the water was coming out of the primer hole and the filter worked but I obviously couldnt leave it like that. (leaking from the primer lever), So I lifted the filter up and it stopped coming from the primer lever but also stopped sucking the pumping the water.

Im very confused, can anyone help me please!!!

there is a housing around your impeller blade and the intake tube comes out of it. turn it on and fill the back of the filter with water and then pull the intake tube out and lift the housing around the impeller up then press it back down and put the intake tube back on. this normally fixes that problem for me. good luck
