Default Filter replacement question! during fish less cycle.

So I got an acuaclear 110 filter and getting ready to replace my aquatech 30-60 with the acuaclear 110.

since I have an eheim 2215 I will assume it will not affect my cycle that much if I also move the Bio-filter fiber and cut of the blue-fiber from the cartridges and put them on the acuaclear 110 so at least most of the bacteria moves to that filter and helps it get established.

Right now I go from 4ppm of ammonia to 0 in probably 6 hours, but still on the second phase of my fishless cycle, nitrites were high but it seems they are now getting lower, so I will assume most of the bio filtering is happening on the 2215, i just want to replace the HOB filter before i put the fish.

Is that assumption correct, by moving the media from the aqua-tech to the acuaclear should cover it right ?

I am going to set an African cichlid tank, so i want to have ah higher GPH that is why replacing the aquatech.

My tank is a 55G.

You don't have to swap the media around. You can just take the media out of the aquatech and place it in the tank.

Thanks, well I was just planning to leave the media on the new filter since I do not want it floating around but then it should be the same thanks, I was not going to use the carbon media from the acua clear and put the media of the aqua tech instead of that.
