Just got pair of gouramis, is the female of the species the more pushy one? Because she seems to be chasing the male around more, but not agressively

Not sure. Keep in mind that DGs will kill each other in many cases, especially when it is two males. Buying a female will help that but it doesn't guarantee it. Just keep an eye on them.

Males are more territorial than females, so generally they are more aggressive, remember though fish are like people, even the same species have different traits and personalities.

yup just like what was said above in nature males are generally more agressive. But there is always exceptions to that rule (my ex for example -.-) just keep an eye as stated above. It is possible it is all fun and games. If she gets agressive then you may need to separate them. Watch the chasing for a bit. Does she seem to ram him into the sides or ornaments or just in general or stop when close like just chasing? Any nipping?
ive never owned 2 DG but take some of my Danios for instance one of my femals chases the males more then the males chase her. But ive never seen any signs of actuall agreession or any tears on fins or anything. |
