Wondering if someone could let me know how to properly drip acclimate fish.
I know I need a 5g bucket, airline tubing and a towel. I was a bit confused in what to do when the drip is done... the tank is 1/2 empty and from what I've heard, you're not supposed to put the water from the bucket into the tank b/c it's got a bit of the LFS water in it..... so you end up doing a 50% WC while doing a drip acclimation? Anyways, I'd appreciate the help. Wanna make sure I don't loose fish when I bring them home from now on. Thanks!!! ![]()

I would do it after your water change so you don't pull out that much water, then replace as in doing a water change.
On my airline I use a valve to control the flow or drip. There cheap and can be found at walmart in the pet dept.

Airline Control Valve I get them at PetSmart. Use them on every acclimation and even water changes. You can precisely dial in the proper drip rate. A couple things I do: - For acclimating...I place the tube right after the filter (for HOB filters). This gets me fresh filtered water going into the bowl - For water changes...I place the tube right before the filter (for HOB filters) so the new water gets filtered when going into the tank. |
