Default Credit Card sized gap between stand and tank

I recently purchased a 40 gallon breeder aquarium and stand. When I set it up I noticed that I could slide a credit card between the aquarium and stand in the front and back in the middle portions. It is flush on the corners and sides however. Is this normal or is the tank in danger of being compromised? The stand is solid wood.

If the stand has a solid top you can cut a piece of insulation board and put that between them and it should level it out. You can even use foam padding.

I would suggest the use of some thin foam or insulation board. It will help retain heat. How effective it is, i dont know....
