Default Changing stands with an established tank was easier than I thought

So, here's my story: Have had a 29 tall up and running for almost 2 years now, decided I wanted to move it from the dresser it was sitting on to a new stand with more room underneath for a canister filter and to get more storage space.

Got my hands on a bathroom vanity for free, with big double doors and a ceramic sink top. Did some measurements, found out it would work, and brought it home. Pulled the faucet and drain off, cleaned the grout, then started the hard work.

Pulled all the rocks, wood, and hardware off of the tank. Drained 7/8 of the water, left all the critters and plants inside. Moved the dresser with tank on top out of the way, moved the vanity into place, moved the tank and rubber protective sheeting onto the vanity.

Put everything back together, with the whole process taking me less than two hours, including adding fresh water as a PWC. This was two nights ago. This morning the frogs were croaking and the fish were schooling and zooming around just fine. Only hitch was I accidentally broke the filter housing of my AC50 - good thing I had a spare I had bought off Craigslist awhile back!

Now I'm scanning the classifieds for a good canister filter. If anyone has one they would like to part with, preferably an Eheim, with a rating up to 90 gallons, hit me up!

Thanks for the read. Pictures will be up soon

Well, I am thinking of selling my marineland magnum.I have bettas and the flow is too much.I was thinking of selling it to get another one of the 2222 that I have on the 29.
right now it is on my 25 and it keeps it all nice and clean.I have the canister, and the pollisher and the carbon chamber.I also have the biowheel that attaches to the outflow.I do not have the intake as it wasnt in the box,but am trying to talk hubbs into letting me get one on ebay so itll be at least a complete set.
I have to turn the spraybar to the back because the flow is too strong for my bettas. In a normal tank its a welcome addition, lol. The hoses are also thinner diameter than the ones supposed to go with it as I used what I had. They are about the same as the 12/16mm eheim hoses and black.

Its not an eheim.Let me know.

Also, cant wait to see pics.Did you sit the tank on top of the sink bowl too,or was that not part of the cabinet?I bet it looks nice,I have seen some beautiful sink cabinets(me and hubbs can custom build them)that would make awesome stands.

In that respect, small tanks are cool. One person job even. You have to keep looking on TPT and APC for deals like that one I sent you a link to...deals like that may not come along often, but they are out there.

Good to know that it was a relatively easy job! We are probably going to re-carpet this place sometime in the "nearish" future, and will have to move the 20g and 36g when we do.

You had me interested for a minute. 29g is cake, you could almost move it by draining most of the water alone. I was trying to figure out how to do it with my 125g, which requires 2 men to move the empty tank alone... Glad it worked out well.

It's sitting on top of the sink basin. The ceramic sink top is just sitting on the frame - lots of counter space around the tank, which I like, plus all the hardware like power strip and CO2 stuff are underneath now.

Pictures possibly tonight, depending on time (gotta go to traffic school for a speeding ticket).

Ooooo, that sucks! I've never been sent to traffic school for a speeding ticket.... is that a U.S. thing?

Yes. Different states have different restrictions. In Pennsylvania, if you receive 5 points, you must attend a 6 hour lesson on driving. 6 points is loss of license for 3 months and driving lesson. The lesson is free provided by the state. Texas has "ticket forgiveness" which you can opt for a maximum of once a year. If you get a ticket, they "forget" about it, if you attend a driving lesson, which is 6 hours. However it costs $150, though it's typically less than the cost of the ticket.

Different states do different things, but those are the states that I lived in AND received excessive speeding tickets.

My husband said in Ontario we used to have a little driving class/quiz (free) you could take to get out of paying the ticket but not anymore. Now, you either pay the ticket or go to court and try to fight it. If you are found going 50km+ over the limit, they can seize your car and they can suspend your license. And/or you pay a huge fine. Not fun.
