I last posted in June about my Fluval Edge aquarium and it's occupants; a pair of German Blue Rams. The general response was that the tank is too small for Rams and I said I would get back about how the Rams are doing. They have grown and look beautiful! Also, about twelve days ago, they had babies; I didn't even notice the eggs, but saw four tiny fry, likely they were about 5 days old at the time. They have now tripled in size (at least) and growing visibly bigger each day. I am hoping the best for their survival, the parents seem to be OK with them. It is interesting that about four days ago the female laid eggs again and the pair were gaurding them very energetically, but unfortunately nothing became of them, just seemed to have disappeared. Maybe they looked too tasty?
I have posted photos, not too clear of the parents but pretty good of the tiny fry who now looks like a little fish rather than two floating eyeballs - the way he looked a week ago. His siblings look just like him but I cannot seem to get a pic of them all together, maybe when they get a little bigger. I am planning on getting a larger tank quite soon as I am really enjoying this new hobby; also, although the Fluval Edge is beautiful, it is too small as well as pretty difficult to maintain with such a small opening in the top. Thanks for commenting! It's funny how a few tiny little fish can be so exciting. Unfortunately the four baby fish diminished to two while they were still in the tank with their parents, so I rushed out and bought a smaller tank, qucikly set it up for the two remaining babies and they are now growing and thriving without the threat of being eaten. I'll know better next time.
