Default Bloodworms

We bought some bloodworms today. I defrosted them in tank water and the fish LOVED THEM. Do I give a couple times a week?

Yes you can! depending on the fish. livebearers would just need to get it once a weeks.

Agreed with Susan. You can give the blood worms a few times a week as long as your fish aren't live bearer's - which need a mostly veggie diet.

Good plan - just a 'treat'.

I had guppies and didn't realize I had been feeding them too much protein and too little veggie matter, and they ended up all getting super bloated (and I mean super bloated!) Some lived for a long time like that, but some died soon after bloating up.

I don't thaw them, I just break off a small piece and drop it in the tank. Most fish go crazy over them. If you thaw them first, rinse them in a net with fresh water before feeding them, this washes away some of the juices that you fish can't eat anyway. Make sure you have some bottom feeders, like Corys, to clean up pieces of left over Blood Worms. Raw Food pollutes easily.

I keep platies with tiger barbs, a pair of kribensis and glowlight tetras and I feed them all the same: flakes, grindals and maggots of unwanted small flies contaminated my grindals culture. I will try frozen bloodworms as soon as I get them.

Algae wafers work, but I also feed a good spirulina based flake food to my livebearers.
