I currently have a 55gallon cichlid tank and am planning on converting it over to a planted one soon. However i am still trying to figure everything out as far as how i am going to set up the planted tank as it will be my first. My problem is that i have had a black algea issue in my tank for a while now, but i have kept it under control by scraping it off the glass during each water change with a razor. Yet it still comes back slowly the longer i let the tank go. I do not want this problem to carry over once i convert to a planted tank. I will be changing my substrate. But does anyone know how to completely rid my tank of this problem? Thanks

Adding the plants may take care of the problem.
