Is it an air pump or filter?

Assuming you are talking about a HOB filter, or any filter for that matter, If this happened to me I would take the bio media out the filter and drop it in the tank on top of an air bubbler to keep some water flow going through it (providing you have one available to you). At the very least keep the bio media in the tank and make sure you circulate the water at regular intervals to avoid having all the BB die off. The best way that I know of to circulate the tank is to siphon out some water and dump it back in, or just get a really big spoon and stir it (not really the best way). Best of luck to you.
Forgot to ask what city you are in because i have 2 AC 50s that are not in use atm if you are interested.

The shipping alone is probably more than what the filter is worth lol.
