I want to see what kind of lighting Everyone prefers. Do cfls( Compact Florescent Lens) put off less heat that standard incandescent bulbs, and are the led hoods worth the extra cash. Also just for fun talk about what you have heard about different lighting setups.

Incandescent lamps are the worst in terms of energy efficiency, especially since they waste something like 90% of the used energy through heat. This means that your plants will not be able to absorb the light they require as efficiently, and you'll end up spending more money through wasted power. The good side is that incandescents seem to be cheap.
LED lights are extremely expensive, but they're worth the money if you can afford it, as they give off great lighting for plants and aesthetics, and never require any sort of bulb change. CFL's seem to be the great middleground, mixing both strength, energy efficiency, and pricing. Good luck!

What exactly are you looking to do with your lighting? If you're only lighting the tank so you can see the fish, standard fluorescent tubes work just fine.

As Scuff said it depends on what you want from the lighting.I have currently one T5 HO light for my 29,so I can setup a pressurized CO2 setup for more demanding plants.I have two fixtures on a 25 One with T12 and one with T8 lighting.Though it looks similiar to the HO one,I can tell a difference in the two.I have a ten gallon incandescent hood, fitted with CFL bulbs for plant growth.
As you can see,I focus on plants in a few of them,so I try to get a more natural daylight look to the bulbs.

Definitely too wide open of a question without knowing what you want to do with it. What size tank is this?
