True...baking soda will raise the kH (and pH) which he may or may not want since his tap is already ~7.0. He may then have to get some chemical that lowers the pH. The seachem combo however will raise the kH while still being able to get the exact pH he wants. Good point about driftwood. It also makes water softer (lowers kH) which in turn can lead to more drastic spikes/dips in pH.

Definately do as Djriche says about making it all up in a bucket and testing it before hand. You want to make small changes at a time.

Hello Guys!
Well I never had a chance to buy the complete water testing kit, so the pH jumping still unknown fact ... although I did 90% WC, cleaned filter completely washed all parts (like out of box replaced cartridge, feed fish with "meat" and left for vacation. After 9 days.
60% less algae (light was off), pH was ok, low but not that much (around 6.8)

I left "weekend feeder", so all my fish was fine.

Leftover algae I think it's permanent :( I understand if I take the limestone out and cook it for 5 hours it may clean the algae up, but removing main tank deco, will turn the tank "upside down", I'll just leave that as is for now.

DJRichie Thanks for tips!!!,
I don't have DW
From cat's family I have Peppered Cory. Very active fish! Cleans FT in and out, but I think this fish is more looking for left overs not algae Big round belly, lately. I hope it's not eggs, I have no male for her
