I've been doing a 20% water change every week while my 10 gallon goldfish tank was cycling, but now that it has cycled, do I still need to carry out the same water changes?
I have a 10 gallon tank with two small shubunkins, a mystery snail and a couple ghost shrimp. It has a power filter and is aerated. |

With the fish that you have you need to change water at least a couple times a week. 1 goldfish needs a 15 gal tank and 10 gal for each one there after.

Some even say the first goldie needs a 20-30g and an extra 10g per goldie after that. Bottom line, you need at least a 30g tank for those two fish. With them in a 10g, you will be needing to do 20% water changes every other day/every day. Plus you need double filtration with goldies. They grow big. Keeping them in a small tank will stunt their skeletons, but their organs will keep growing, until they essentially explode inside... really painful death.
