Default adding a rock i found outside to tank

So they tore down an old mini golf by my house and had a ton of rocks so I found one I liked and boiled it multiple times. Will it hurt if it looks like there is mold on the underside? Also there was some type of adhesive on it that I took off and sanded the rock to remove the residue...should I worry about it,or do you think it will be fine? I will add photos when I get home.

Don't know about the 'mold' looking stuff... can you sand it off?

Try putting dropping some vinegar on the rock... if it bubbles don't put it in the tank! It will mess with your pH! (If you have a liquid test kit, use the liquid from the pH test instead of vinegar.)

I would be very leary if the rock is porous as most places like that used insecticides which you may never get out of the crevices of the rock.

Never thought about that...so even boiling the rock won't get rid of that stuff?
