Default 30 Gal. Stocking Options

Hey all - first question from me on the forums!

Anyways - I've gone ahead and put up a picture of my tank. It's a bit sparse at the moment, and when all the fish get on one side, it looks rather empty. I was hoping for some advice on what to put in my tank. More fish? A plant or two, perhaps? A spunky decoration? I am aiming for a larger fish (4-5 inches) but I'm worried A) that there's not enough plant coverage and B) that the severum will get agitated and aggressive if I do. Any suggestions? Is this a viable option?

P.S. - Current stock in Sig below

Thanks!

I think the tank would look nice with 1 or 2 more plants like the one's you have now,and maybe a big piece of driftwood. As for stocking,i dont know much about severums but im pretty sure he's gonna outgrow that tank so theres not alot you can do right now except maybe a couple other cichlids.Maybe a jackdempsey,or a parrot would look nice. But your gonna have to upgrade in the future.

I think fish is enough. I would say more live plants....but then again, you have a severum, never had one but from what I've heard, live plants are no no for these guys. Maybe fake plants or a small driftwood just to make it look full I guess.

Thanks! Do you think they'd get along alright with the Severum? I'm mainly worried about the aggressive factors. I'd especially love to get a Parrot but I'm worried they'll tear each other up.

Im no expert with severums so im not sure just how aggressive they are but i think a parrot and a severum would get along ok in a 30 gallon but it depends on how many other fish are i the tank. And again you will propobaly need to upgrade in the future to around a 55 galln tank.

I went out and bought some driftwood tonight. I'm also really considering having some live plants in there, but I have never ever done that before and would have no idea where to start! Is it relatively easy to put in live plants?

I would say the fish is enough too,as I am not a fan of overstocking.

As for live plants,it can be easy or hard depending on how much care, time and money you want to add.
