Hey all,
I finished cycling my 75 gallon a couple weeks ago and have been adding a couple fish here and there and watching the water perameters. Everything looks great! No stressed fish and no nipping or chasing. I was a little worried with the kinds of fish i put in there, but so far so good. So here's what I have, in order of how I put them in the tank: 3 Roseline sharks 3 Panda Cories 3 Otos 2 Rainbow Fish (Turqoiuse rainbows, maybe 2 1/2 inches long) 1 Medium-sized Angel (maybe 4" from top to bottom of fins) I was wondering what to do from here. I was thinking I could add a couple more Angels, and some more bottom feeders. But even better I was wondering if there were any smaller fish that I could get a good school of that won't be bothered by (or bother the other) the fish the tank. I have mostly larger fish in there and I think it would be cool to have a colorful school of some smaller fish. So far I haven't been able to come up with anything. Any ideas with what smaller fish might be compatible in a large school in there? Thanks! Last edited by bmoore09 : 12-04-2011 at 04:29 PM. |

Depending on the temperament of your current fish in the tank, I think that neon tetras are a nice colorful addition to any tank. They love groups of 6+ and are a peaceful schooling fish. I don't know much about those sharks or rainbow fish and how they would interact with the neons however.

Yah, I had some Cardinal Tetras in an older tank. Loved them. But I'm not sure how they would go with the current fish. The fish in there now leave each other alone, but I'm thinking it's because they're all around the same size. Not sure how they would treat the tetras.
I guess I'm looking for some "rough" :-) smaller fish....but not too rough. I've had Tiger Barbs beat up my bala sharks in the past. It's possible what I'm looking for doesn't exist. I just wanted to ask here in case anyone else had any ideas before I gave up and just finished stocking it with more of the same fish...which wouldn't be the worst idea. But I think a large school of some smaller guys would be great if it can happen. Thanks again! |

Yea most colorful schooling fish are on the smaller size, and I just don't know how they would interact with the sharks and that angel.

Tank looks nice! I agree with the advice given by the others about the smaller schooling fish though

I would do a school of rummy nose tetras. There not that small but in a group they won't get pushed around. Plus they look nice with there red face silver body and black & white tails. Or for colors do some Congo tetras

You could get 6 Buenos Aires Tetras. They school really nicely and won't get bullied by the bigger fish.
