Default Re: pulsing xenia question

I'm new to the hobby. But, I have a small frag of pulsing zenia that sits in the corner of rock on two sides and gets deflected flow from a moderately sized power head. Mine brush up against the rock on a regular basis with no retraction. They pulse even in the flow.

Mine retract almost immediately when the lights go off (looking like a small pile of goo) and perk back up and pulse almost immediately when the light comes back on. I'm amazed at how fast it goes from one state to the other. Now, is that typical behavior?

I think they're photosynthetic so you don't really want them shaded under other rocks. I hear they spread like mad and will take over your tank so I stayed away from them.
