Default Chemical filtration and plants?

Is it necessary or even a desired aspect?

I don't want it pulling out the minerals that the plants need.

Between live rock (biological filtration), and macro algae (plants), chemical filtration usually isn't needed. Most of us use skimmers to reduce dissolved organic concentrates (DOC) which break down to form ammonia.

Often macro algae is cultivated separately in a fuge to keep herbivorous fish from eating it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to answer but unfortunately I put this question in the wrong section. I'm a freshwater guy, sorry about that.

Actually I don't even know how or why I would post in this subforum... I don't have any need to be in this one!

Let me go ahead an answer here anyway.

Plants (fw or marine) are the only filtration needed in any aquarium.

So I wouldn't add anything else because of the added complications, maintenance, and realiablity issues but also because of the filter removing things that keep the plant life thriving.
