how many watts/bulbs do you have on your lights? Easy beginner corals are xenia, zoanthids, mushrooms, star polyps, and other "softies". How long have you been cycling your tank? If its not fully cycled, most coral will die overnight in ammonia and nitrites.

You should be able to look on the bulb themsevles. they will either have a wattage or a number you can google and it will tell you the wattage. When picking coral though, be sure to look up their toxins and compatability with other coral. Some coral like Galaxia have tenticals that can extend several inches away from the main body, stinging other coral. This is one example of what to look for. Also, coral can sting humans, be be aware when handling them that you could be stung and you could have an allergic reaction to them. So the safest thing is to wear some kind of gloves when you have to handle them. Dont frag any corals without proper eye and respritory protection also.

That's not going to be enough for coral. You'll probably have to double it.

Those purple things are a type of mushroom i think.. they dont require too much light so that's why they're doin alright in your tank so far.

you could put some higher. but some coral would require more lighting than you have. You could just add a bigger fixture. or another to add to it that matches what you have.
