Default Salinity question +

I add half a gallon of RO fresh water to my 90 gallon saltwater tank daily. It keeps the water level steady (amount of water in the sump). Why after a week is my water significantly too salty if I am replacing evaporated water daily?

But, are you just adding RO Water? Not RO-with salt added. Evap water does not take salt with it, evap water is jsut water, it leaves all the crap behind, like salt. So you have to add top off water that is Fresh Water, or RO water that you have not added any salt to it.

the RO fresh water I am adding has no salt in it. Does salt get left behind because of fish respiration or digestion in addition to evaporation. Just wondering because it's weird the water gets salty after a week when I add freshwater daily.

Strange indeed. What are you using to test the SG? Hydrometer or Refractometer? HAve you had your LFS test to confirm your results?
