So right now I have a 30-gallon stock hood and light.
I also have some low-light plants (subulata, cyrpts, and a few others). My question is, if I go with a more powerful dual-light "one 24 watt 6000K T5 HO lamp and one 24 watt 650nm T5 HO Lamp." so that I can grow some other plants...will it kill my current low-light plants? |

Nope, they'll be fine. Personally, I would get both bulbs in the 6500-6700k range.

Good morning b...
If my math is correct, your planned lighting is under 2 watts of light per every gallon of your tank size. 1 to 2 watts will grow most aquatic plants, so your Cryptocoryne should be fine. The Crypts I have do very well with the 6500 K, light blue color bulbs. These were recommended to me because they best mimic natural daylight, 5500 K. B

They will be fine.I have a T5 HO fixture on my 29 gallon,24 watts on both bulbs. My plants are very happy and grow nice.Ive been moving my lowlights out,but they did really well with the higher lighting.
As Ben said, get both bulbs in the 6500K if possible.
